Rita has always had a creative soul.
Starting from her early childhood, she has been interested in creating original pieces, whether it’s making Faberge jewelery boxes, or designing elaborate Ukrainian Easter eggs, or recreating nature when putting together her sugar flowers.
She has won many awards and medals, including her recent prize of the Medal of the French Government Competition (1st prize) at the Annual Salon of Culinary Art, organized by the Société Culinaire Philanthropique de New York.
Her name has also been in many publications, including the Montreal Gazette, Horizon (a local Armenian newspaper), and the Baker’s Journal, who published, among other articles, one cleverly entitled “Les Gâteaux of La Gâterie: Only imagination is the limit for Montreal-based designer Rita Djerrahian”.
She is a certified Wilton instructor, although her teaching style varies depending on the course being given. She is also the ICES representative in Montreal, and continuously adds to her decorating knowledge by attending the annual cake conventions held by the International Cake Exploration Societé all around North America to learn new decorating techniques from other top decorators from across the globe, which she then shares with her students and peers by means of the many courses she offers.
